for those of you that would like to know. here is my story.
monday late afternoon, i started to get a few contractions. nothing measurable, nothing substantial, but something. i went in to my 38 week appointment to see Dr. Yardley. the baby was doing great! heart rate was around 139, he had been at around 145 for most of the pregnancy. she then checked to see if i was dialating, and i was at 2cm and baby was in the right position! we joked about how it could be tomorrow or in two weeks {coda was really pulling for sooner so he could go have camp Ya-Ya}. later that evening, i started getting more “regular” contractions. nothing super painful, but definitely measurable. some i would even have to stop and breathe through. we made the phone call to Ya-Ya that evening just to let her know that there maybe something happening and we might be bringing the boys to her that night. i packed my bag, tidied up the kitchen, and tried to finish the laundry. by midnight, we decided to go to bed and see if we could get any sleep. fortunately, i was able to get some sleep. the contractions did wake me up from time to time, but at least i got some sleep! i woke up the next day and decided to call into work and see if the contractions were going to worsen or if i would be doing this for weeks. {ugh!} after dropping coda off at school, we went home and i dug out the newborn clothes to sort and hang. the contractions were about 15 minutes apart and 30 seconds long. so, after we picked up coda from school, we went to chipotle for lunch and target to try and walk the baby out. well, 2 hours of wondering around target did nothing. so, it was back home to do more chores and let holden nap. my contractions continued to get worse and closer together, but still not enough to make a trip to the hospital. at this point they were around 30-45 seconds long and around 10 minutes apart. so….yet another trip to the mall was in order. i was pretty determined to walk this baby out. :) we got to the mall for some walking around and a pretzel snack. the contractions definitely started to get closer together and more painful. we decided to head to Ya-Ya’s and say hello {and maybe drop the boys off}. we got to Ya-Ya’s and it was pretty clear that Coda wasn’t going to be going home. :) and by this time the contractions were around 5 minutes apart, but only about 30 seconds long. of course, they tell you not to come in until they are over a minute long and 5-7 minutes apart. so, really, we didn’t know what to do. but, in the end, we decide to head over to the hospital around 8. by 8:30 we’re all checked in and the nurse is checking to see if they will admit us or send us home. she checks me and i have a bulging bag of water and his head is going down, but….only 3-4 cm dilated. ugh!! i think the nurse wanted to send us packing, but the on-call doctor decided that they would admit us. after we got to our room, they got me all hooked up to the monitors. we planned on walking the dreaded halls for a bit after they got a good read out of baby’s heart beat. the doctor arrived at around 9:30, right around when we were getting settled into our room. she checked to see how i was progressing, and YAY. i was at a 9. she offered to break my water, but that made me a bit nervous, so i asked if she could come back in a bit to do it. i knew that once they broke my water things would be getting intense. at around 10:30 or so, she came back and i was fully dilated. she broke my water and everyone prepared for a baby! things get crazy in the room. the doctor, nurse, and a nursery nurse were all in the room. after 3 contractions and 4 minutes of pushing Oliver Thomas had arrived. zach did an amazing job at helping me breathe and relax through the entire process. he also managed to get some amazing photos and video of the entire thing. here is the video, but i will warn you…it may make you cry.
here i am! 28 weeks with 3 different boys. coda, holden, and lastly…oliver. i seem to have lost a lot of the photos from 2004 (well, hopefully just can’t find them right now), but i think i might try and do this again. it’s fun to see the difference of the 3 boys. what do you think? do i look like i’m getting bigger as the pregnancies go on? i’m definitely bigger then when i was 28 weeks with coda, but i think i look about the same as when i was 28 weeks with holden. right now, i’m actually more like 32 weeks, so maybe i will go searching for some images from week 32! but for now. enjoy!! oh, and stay tuned. we will be having a little contest again to see who can pick the right birthday for little Oli T.
monday we went in for our 20 week ultrasound. we had decided that we were indeed going to find out if we were having a boy or girl (you know, for planning purposes and such). but we didn’t want the imaging tech to just tell us. so, we took in a notecard that said, ” boy girl ? ” and had her circle what it was and put it back in the envelope. and then we didn’t want to just read it together, we wanted it to be an entire family thing. so tonight, we had the whole family over (skype with my family) for dinner and cake. the cake, well, it was a little surprise! i totally stole this idea from a blog that i frequent (heather cole photography), it was just too good not to do. we tried to come up with our own creative idea, but couldn’t. so, i’ll totally admit it, we STOLE this idea! we supplied our friend, jessica with cake, frosting and pink and blue food coloring, as well as the SECRET envelope. and she delivered a very nicely decorated cake to us for dinner. it was so much fun, the anticipation was totally built up. well, that’s enough of the story. here we go.
Hello Everyone. I think we are finally realizing that the baby will be here any day. We were thinking about doing taking some guesses. Date, weight, length, sex, etc… Here’s a little known info for you all. The 20 week ultrasound said it is a BOY! Coda was born 10 day’s early. My due date is 9.23.08. Coda was 20 inches long and weighed 7 lbs 8 oz. I’ve gained about the same amount of weight as I did with Coda (no, I’m not going to tell you!). OK, so here’s the deal. Submit a comment with your name and your guess! Whoever’s the closest wins!! You may get a prize, you may just get the satisfaction of knowing you are the big winner, who knows! :) Oh, and make your guess soon, because if the baby is born before the guess is made, well, you LOSE!! Final deadline for all guesses is Wednesday 9.10.08 (unless of course he comes earlier). I will also be posting some more maternity photos of me soon!
Wow, I can’t believe that Holden will be here in less then 3 months!! The time has gone by so fast. I had another appointment last Friday and everything is on track and looking healthy. Holden’s heartbeat tends to stay right around the high 140′s to 150′s. I have a tencdency to gain about a pound a week (sometimes more, hehehe). My fingers have really started to get swollen, I’m sure somewhat attributed to the heat, but mostly to the pregnancy. Either way, I can no longer wear my rings on my finger, so I put them on a chain and wear them around my neck.
Here are some photos from my 28 week session that we did this morning (July 3). I had the day off of work so we decided to head downtown and take some maternity photos and do a little session of Coda too. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
Yesterday I came home from work to a surprise on my kitchen table all wrapped up. Zach said it came from UPS with no return label. Well, I opened it and what do you know, it was a card and gift from Holden. How fun!! Well, he knows his mama already, because I got a brand new DREAM MACHINE (aka. Kitchen Aid Mixer). I’ve already used it twice!!
Here are a few more images from our 20 week maternity session on Sunday, May 11. These were taken by Coda. He’s turning into quite the little photographer. ~enjoy.
We’re half way there. Just about 20 more weeks to go. I have been feeling him move more and more lately. Zach and Coda can’t feel him quite yet, but I’m sure that will be happening any day now. He is a very wiggly little guy.
Here are some images from our last photo shoot. ~enjoy~
Friday was my 20 week ultrasound. It went very well. We have a very healthy and happy baby. Two legs, two arms, ten figers and toes. It was measuring 6 days sooner then the original due date (September 23), but she said it wasn’t enough to change the due date. We just might be having a big baby!! So far it is 14 ounces.
So, when we went in for our appointment we thought it would be cool to have the ultrasound technician write down the sex on a piece of paper and seal it up in an envelope. Zach and I talked about it and thought it would be cool to open it up during Mother’s Day brunch when the whole family was there. So, we did and well, I just have to say we are very excited!!
Oh, yeah, you are probably all wondering what it said. OK, ok, I will tell you… It’s a BOY!!
